Independent Farming in the rural areas are slowly being wiped away due to out-of-state large-scale corporate farmers moving in and taking out the local little guys.
This includes fruit and vegetable farms, meat and dairy, tractor builders and farm equipment and everything in between.
The "Support your Oregon Farmers" will be be promoted through the many rural areas. Independent Farming in the rural areas will be a top priority for job growth and their economy.
Kroger, Albertsons, Costco, Walmart and other massive chains often purchase their groceries out of state and ship them in. This totally decimates the local farmers and their abilities to sell to their very own community.
Promoting local farmers is key to a healthy and thriving economy within each city.
We will work with (or help to set up) neighborhood associations to plan and encourage weekly Farmers Markets throughout the state and even giving small grants to local-only small farmers to help jump-start their business's. Subsidies and tax breaks will be given to help encourage growth.
The disappearance of the small farm would further hasten the decline of rural America, which has been struggling to maintain an economic base for decades.
Small farms is defined as those bringing in less than $350,000 a year before expenses.
