It is about time to allow creative artists of all walks of life become successful and be able to have a career off of their talent and passion.
Our administration will double the current funding for school arts and music programs because it must be a priority in our children's lives.
We will also give subsidies, tax breaks, incentives to live music venues, art galleries, local-artist displayed museums, literature, film, painters and movie set productions...and all forms and styles of creative art.
Oregon has the opportunity to become another hub for entertainment known around the US and we will be extremely friendly to thriving artist from every genre. Our administration will help to create opportunities for artists to thrive. Avenues to sell their product. Venues with a larger national audience. More possibilities for artists to make a financial career out of their passion.
Pay attention to this. I remember walking into the home of a representative who was NOT in favor of giving $$ more towards the arts and music in schools. So, I went into their home for some more discussion on this. What did I see as I walked in? Beautiful art on their walls.. I went into their living room and saw a lovely sculpture and painted vase. I Walked into their kitchen and we listened to music playing in the background. I saw their entire CD collection. It was impressive. After our long conversation we took a seat on their couch and we watched a movie. I then Browsed their book shelves and take a read from their large selection of books or poems. The creative side of life is intertwined in our every day lives. We live it and breath it almost every moment of our lives. Art and music needs to be invested in and expanded.
When music, art, film, literature and everything in-between is allowed to flourish then we as a people, as a community will become a happier state. A healthier state. I assure you of this. Mental illness's such as depression and anxiety will lessen.
Overall economic growth can happen within a community when more income is flowing into a wider range of people.
How important is keeping music education expanding for the state of Oregon?
Music is Science. Music is Mathematical. Music is a Foreign Language. Music is History. Music is Physical Education. Music is Creative Expression. Music Requires Research.
Teach a kid music and you are teaching a kid so much more.
