Taxes! Does your industry or product cause Death or Destruction? Does it Dirty our state?
If yes then it will be be taxed...even more. Why should Oregonians front the bill for companies whose main product causes death, destruction, diabetes, or dirties our state. We are spending hundreds of millions of hard working tax money to front the bill for these companies causing the damage. Why should they be exempt when it is directly related to them? It is completely unfair to all Oregonians and it makes no sense at all.
Who can expect this... Companies that spew pollution into the air, ground or water. Manufacturers that make single use-plastics or 1-time disposable items. Manufactures/companies that creates excessive amounts of waste or trash. Tobacco. Firearms. Alcohol. Explosives. Super-Junk foods. High-sugar Sodas. Gas. E-Cigarettes. Garbage.
Yes...garbage will be taxed. Homes will be taxed for the amount of garbage they produce. Our landfills are not infinite and we are slowly but surely trashing our great state. Millions of tons of garbage being thrown into our landfills is not sustainable and something absolutely needs be done.
There are many family households who produce as little as 1 garbage bin every two months. Every! Two! Months! They focus on recycling and composting. Oregon's household goal is 1 garbage bin per month. It's easy and doable.
The only way to help people learn the proper way of composting and recycling is by taxing their way towards education....and then watch their taxes drop. It's within their power to lower their own taxes. 1 garbage bin per month.
As our population grows, continually trashing our state is no longer an option.
Expect Oregon to bring in millions of dollars from our D&D tax. All of this new revenue will help to fund Oregon's Environmental Agency. OEA. OEA will have direct impact to reverse the effects of environmental damage. What is better is our full-transparency. Will will show exactly how much is Oregon is making on the D&D tax and use those funds directly towards OEA.
Furthermore watch Oregon be the leaders of the least amount of trash per capita in the US.
It's doable and easy.
