What if it were illegal for politicians to lie? We have truth in advertising laws. Truth in lending laws. It is illegal to lie on a resume for a Government position. There are industries in which a lie to the public is illegal and punishable. Why don’t we demand truth from elected officials? They are the ones who directly affect our livelihoods. Our economy. Our health. Our careers.
If they cannot get elected by the truth, we don't need them.
"Truth in Politics Laws"
In my administration, any Oregon state politician who is blatantly lying to the public needs to be held accountable and needs to face the consequences. Clear, verifiable and undeniable lies. Especially if they are told of their lie and fail to publicly and immediately acknowledge and correct it.
Their lies will go to court and those politicians will have to face the punishment. Even if the sentencing is just to pay a fine...that politician will now have a record on their resume of being a liar. Try getting re-elected with that on your resume. Fucker.
